Adoptive Parent Coaching (APC)
Adoptive Parenting Coaching will be ATTACHMENT, TRAUMA AND ADOPTION-BASED and the children will not be involved in any sessions. It will not be therapy so you may still keep working with other
providers if that has been recommended.

The goal of Adoptive Parent Coaching will be to assist adoptive parents in understanding their roles in their children’s lives, creating new boundaries and reframing their parenting behaviors and attitudes to have a parenting style that works cohesively and in the best interest for their adopted child(ren).
The first two sessions will be comprised of seeing each parent separately.

Unless there is a court injunction or reason that parents cannot meet together, the rest of the sessions will be with both parents present. The Adoptive Parent Coaching provider’s role will be to help parents identify and resolve conflict through negotiation, compromise and positive communication while acting as an unbiased team leader. Boundary setting for the parents will be a primary concern. Coordinated Parenting which is centered around the adopted child(ren)’s needs is the ultimate goal. Unlike traditional Parenting Coordination or Parenting Facilitation, Adoptive Parenting Coaching will not be court ordered, nor will any reports be provided to the courts.
Attorneys (if applicable) are not involved with Adoptive Parent Coaching.
